Description:
This two-hour chamber version of Engelbert Humperdinck's lyrical opera is sung in the English translation and specially staged with young audiences in mind. Though they are lost in the woods, Hansel and Gretel have a grand adventure, meeting the Sandman, a guardian angel choir, and the Dew Fairy, as well as the witch and her gingerbread house! The fairy tale-turned opera teaches lessons of ingenuity and courage. In the end, the two children save the day for others as well as themselves.
