Description:
The true story of a military trial in Clarksville, Tennessee inspires this gripping courtroom drama investigating the mystery of a Dickson County incident that happened at the height of the Civil War. Aaron James was accused of guerilla activity against the Union, but eyewitness accounts and legal interpretations differed so drastically that the case was reviewed by President Abraham Lincoln himself. Playwright Carolyn German used actual trial transcripts to trace this journey into history staged with one performer playing ten different characters. Students experience a fast-moving and thought-provoking examination of justice, as they decipher testimony, explore arguments, and even vote their opinions with the actor.
