When there a faculty openings, interested artists will have an opportunity to audition to become ArtSmart Teaching Artists. This is a two- to four-day process. All auditionees attend one orientation day and one audition day. Successful candidates will also complete the annual Full Faculty Training workshop, which takes place the following two days.
1. Candidates familiarize themselves with an upcoming ArtSmart Focus work well before the audition; all are expected to attend one preview performance (exact time and date TBA).
2. Orientation day immerses candidates in ArtSmart activities, followed by deconstruction and discussion of activity objective, content and delivery. Candidates apply this experience to designing an ArtSmart activity that they will teach on audition day. Candidates will be contacted that evening to learn whether or not they are to advance to the next stage.
3. The annual Topical Faculty Workshop engages both new trainees and experienced Teaching Artists in professional development activities tailored to their needs.
