HOT SEASON FOR YOUNG PEOPLE 2008-2009

Amahl and the Night Visitors
Nashville Opera

Pulitzer-prize winning composer Gian-Carlo Menotti’s one-act work remains the world’s most performed opera. The story begins in the humble dwelling of a mother and her disabled son who is a generous boy prone to telling tall tales. One knock at the door and the shepherd boy’s life will forever change in a chance encounter with three kings following a star to Bethlehem. This holiday classic, with its original English libretto and lilting melodic score, celebrates the most important gifts.
