HOT SEASON FOR YOUNG PEOPLE 2008-2009

Fisk Jubilee Singers®

In 1871, the Jubilee Singers, courageous and gifted students from Nashville’s new Fisk University, set-out on a tour to raise funds for their college.  In concerts across the United States and Europe, they were the first to perform spirituals before white audiences, breaking racial barriers and influencing the American music to come. Today the chorus is a world-renowned, award-winning ensemble of talented students from around the globe under the direction of Professor Paul Kwami.
