This story traces two children and their widowed father trying to hide a wild, white, “spirit” horse in their Calgary apartment. A gift from their grandfather, the Spirit Horse teaches the family to hope again by reconciling “the old ways” of their ancient heritage with their new modern life. Spirit Horse is an adaptation of Greg Banks’ play, Tir na N’og. Playwright Drew Haydon Taylor and director Banks deftly transfer the themes of his Irish fable into the Canadian First Nations world. |
