TPAC Education ArtSmart Seminars and Refresher workshops feature exploration of one or more ArtSmart Focus Works and build capacity in the ArtSmart teaching approach known as aesthetic education. Both earn credit hours recognized by Metro schools.
•Three-hour workshops available at the beginning of each Study Unit (see Study Unit Calendars)
• ArtSmart Teachers jump-start their study unit with a mini-preview and experiential investigation of the Focus Work of Art followed by large- and small-group brainstorming to prepare for the planning meeting with their TA.
(20 credit hours)
• Two-and-a-half to three day intensives offered twice a year
• The summer 2007 Arts Integration seminar took place July 24-26.
If your school already participates in ArtSmart, the volunteer ArtSmart Contact Teacher (who facilitates communication between TPAC Education, ArtSmart teachers and TAs) can help you get started.
If your school does not yet participate in ArtSmart, you will need at least five teachers participating in ArtSmart professional development and a volunteer Contact Teacher to get started. Contact Director Leigh Jones to set up a brief faculty meeting presentation about ArtSmart, and a follow-up meeting for interested teachers and your principal.
