What comes to your mind when you think of the 1950s? The decade had such a distinct look and sound. I think everyone has some impression of what life was like at that time. Its fun and appeal seems to cross generations like no other era in American history. There's something special about that place in time and pop culture -- a happy, optimistic, and prosperous time between the Depression, World War II, and the tremendous change to come. The musical is warm and funny--pure entertainment.Seeing Happy Days on stage will be like spending a couple, comfortable hours with Richie Cunningham and his family and friends, including Fonzie, the TV series most popular character.
Truthfully, the talent behind the stage production is what first caught my attention. Happy Days is written and produced by Garry Marshall, the creative behind a long list of hit television shows and films. In the 70s and 80s, Marshall had more hits on television than any other creator or producer--including Happy Days and its spin-offs. He recruited Paul Williams to write the songs for the stage version. Quite a collaboration. Legendary.
I think you'll enjoy the musical even more if you refresh your memory on the Fifties and the musical's creators. Do a little research on the internet before you see the show.
