As someone who grew up enjoying Little League more than Barbie, I was only lukewarm about seeing the movie Legally Blonde when it came out several years ago. Who knew I would end up enjoying both the movie and this new staged production so much in the end? This show is really worth the price of admission. I originally thought the content would be silly and overdone, but it’s really quite the opposite. There is the perfect blend of humor, love, and friendship, mixed with lively choreography and sassy music. Only on Broadway can a songwriter successfully be able to include the words “. . . and you’ve got the best *friggin’* shoes” into the lyrics. This show is filled with small tidbits like that to make you smile and laugh. Although this musical also begs the question of a more serious topic: “Does a woman need to alter her persona to survive in a man’s world”? The answer might surprise you. I’m so excited the Legally Blonde is coming to Nashville and I encourage anyone who would like an evening of joyful, uplifting entertainment to leave your daily worries at home come see it.
