Date of the 10th Annual Jimmy Awards Announced

The National High School  Musical Theatre Awards will take place on Monday, June 25 at Broadway’s Minskoff Theatre.

High school students from across the country will compete for the coveted Jimmy® Award for Best Performance by an Actor and Best Performance by an Actress at the 10th annual presentation. The talent showcase will feature dynamic ensemble and solo performances. In order to be qualified to compete, students must win top honors at regional high school musical theatre awards competitions.

Founded in 2009, the mission of the National High School Musical Theatre Awards is to raise the profile of musical theatre in schools, recognize dedicated teachers, and inspire the next generation of performers and enthusiasts. Since the program started, students have earned over $1,000,000 in university and conservatory scholarships with many students being cast in Broadway and West End productions.

Last year, over 1,300 high schools and 80,000 students competed in the annual events including two students from TPAC’s first ever Spotlight Awards.  Hatty King from Lipscomb Academy and Nathan Keffer from Ravenwood High School, Spotlight Award winners for Best Actress and Best Actor, were both finalists in the Jimmy Awards last year. We couldn’t have asked for two better performers to represent Nashville in our first year competing!

This year’s Spotlight Awards will take place on Saturday, May 12 in Andrew Jackson Hall. We can’t wait to congratulate two new winners and send them off to New York to compete nationally.
