TPAC Education is sharing some of the magic with you this week with new video from Disney Musicals in Schools:
At the first DMIS Student Share celebration in Nashville, children from metro elementary schools appeared on the stage of Jackson Hall in May – the exciting finale to the first year of an exclusive pilot project outside of New York City.
“TPAC knocked it out of the ballpark,” said Lisa Mitchell, Disney Theatrical Group’s Education and Outreach, commenting for a television camera on the success of that pilot. After smashing success in Nashville, the program will be extended to other cities across the nation, giving students in urban, public schools the free rights and resources to produce Disney KIDS Musicals.
The program will be expanded in Nashville next year, supplemented by a $75,000 “after-school creativity grant,” one of the first of its kind to be awarded by the charitable arm of Disney.
News Channel Five’s Lelan Statom was the master of ceremonies at the performance featuring children from Glengarry, Hattie Cotton STEM, Hull-Jackson Montessori, Kirkpatrick, and Percy Priest elementary schools. For more information see: www.tpac.org/disney.
