The Tennessee Performing Arts Center established the Applause Award in 1981 to recognize exemplary community and corporate leadership in the performing arts. Recipients of the Applause Award have made notable contributions to the growth and success of cultural and educational programming, for the benefit of audiences, artists, and students.
