DESCRIPTION

A futuristic and seemingly utopian society selects only one boy to hold the memories of its civilization. As twelve-year-old Jonas is tutored for this new role, he begins to question his ideal world and learn disturbing truths from his mentor, the Giver. Lois Lowry’s Newbery Award-winning, best-selling book for young readers is told by one actor with deceptive simplicity. As Jonas experiences the true joys and pains of life, he undertakes impossible change, prompting audiences to re-examine their own values and beliefs. Literature to Life® is a legacy of the award-winning American Place Theatre, adapting literature for the stage for over 50 years.
