DESCRIPTION

Miami native and multi-faceted performer of Ayisyen (Haitian) descent, Inez Barlatier celebrates Haitian art and culture in a performance filmed especially for virtual viewing. Energetic drumming, instrumentals, and singing merge with colorful costumes, traditional dances, and folktales as she and her talented friends lead children on a journey to a land rich with an influential but overlooked history. With her warm and welcoming demeanor, Ms. Barlatier shares her stories, with songs and phrases in Creole, that explore themes of community and gratitude. This performance includes ASL interpreting embedded on screen.
