Like it or not, self-taping your audition is the way of the future. Ball State University Assistant Teaching Professor of Acting and TPAC Teaching Artist, MARK CABUS, leads you through the industry standard steps to put your best face forward. Participants will learn tips and see examples of successful audition tapes and can submit an audition tape for notes and comments. This workshop is geared to high school age performers but is appropriate for all.
Mark Cabus is a skilled actor, director, writer, and producer of stage and screen, classically trained in England, New York, and Washington DC. His film and television credits range from the Oscar-nominated Selma, John Grisham’s The Client, Nicholas Sparks’ The Longest Ride, HBO’s third season of True Detective to recurring roles on the Fox series The Resident, AMC’s TURN: Washington’s Spies and Hulu’s Tell Me Lies as well as the Emmy-nominated, Dopesick. Tens of thousands have thrilled to his celebrated original solo performance of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, a new Holiday tradition for Studio Tenn at the Franklin Theatre as well as a full-length feature film.
Having performed all over the world, he is recognized in the Southeast for his work with the Alliance Theatre, Georgia Shakespeare, Theatrical Outfit, Actors Express, Horizon Theatre, the Clarence Brown Company, Nashville Repertory Theatre, Studio Tenn, the Nashville Shakespeare Festival, and his own company, Naked Stages. The Tennessean and Nashville Scene honored Mark thrice as the city’s Best Actor (I Am My Own Wife, Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, and Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde) and twice Best Director (Coriolanus and The Merchant of Venice).
