As a result of TPAC’s partnership, educators are being introduced to a new style of learning for students in one of Tennessee’s lowest-performing schools and where 93% are considered economically disadvantaged.
In a lively preschool classroom in Nashville, children eagerly pick up their pretend paint buckets and use imaginary brushes to paint triangles, circles, and squares in the air. They follow the lead of Holly Cannon-Hesse, one of dozens of teaching artists who play a leading role in TPAC’s educational outreach.
The great joy of learning lies in discovery. Since its inception, TPAC’s ArtSmart has enriched classroom curriculum and helped students discover the tools they need to have a meaningful encounter with a live arts experience. This deeper drive is facilitated by TPAC teaching artists at no cost to schools.
