Welcome to Nashville Opera's 2026-2027 Season

Nashville Opera's 2026-27 season is one for the books. We open with Puccini's Tosca, a deadly political thriller set in Rome where passion, power, and betrayal collide in less than 24 hours. Then we do something completely different: Fortuna the Time Bender vs. The Schoolgirls of Doom, a comic book superhero opera with a live 80s rock band and more laughs than you'll know what to do with. We close with Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, back on our stage after a decade, dressed in powdered wigs and Marie Antoinette excess, where the women are smarter than everyone else in the room, and they know it.
From heartbreaking to hilarious, this season goes places opera rarely goes, all of it live, unamplified, and performed by world-class artists with the Nashville Opera Orchestra. Come Curious, Leave Changed.

Tosca

Experience the raw intensity of Puccini’s most cinematic masterpiece. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of 1800s Rome, Tosca is a high-stakes race against time where passion and politics collide. Follow the legendary singer Floria Tosca as she fights to save her lover from the clutches of the corrupt police chief, Scarpia. Featuring stunning, hand-painted traditional sets, this production captures the grand scale of Italian tragedy, complete with a mock execution, a deadly double-cross, and one of the most iconic final moments in all of opera.

Fortuna the Time Bender vs. The Schoolgirls of Doom

Get ready for something completely different in our intimate studio space! Fortuna the Time Bender vs. The Schoolgirls of Doom is a vibrant, campy explosion of 1980s soft rock, comic book aesthetics, and Gilbert & Sullivan-style wit. When the villainous "Headmaster" threatens the city with his trio of musical minions, it’s up to the time-bending Fortuna and her nerdy sidekick to save the day.

With a live 80s-inspired band and a "Scott Pilgrim" visual energy, this production is a high-octane comedy that proves opera can be as fun as your favorite graphic novel.

The Marriage of Figaro

We close our season with Mozart’s most beloved comedy, The Marriage of Figaro. Returning to our stage after a decade, this production leans into the lush, maximalist world of 18th-century "Marie Antoinette" style. While Figaro tries to outsmart the philandering Count Almaviva, it is ultimately the brilliant Susanna and the resilient Countess who pull the strings to save the wedding day. It’s a gorgeous, traditional romp through the complexities of human nature, filled with Mozart’s most sublime melodies and a heart that beats for justice and forgiveness.
